#knitting: bow headband

Over the holidays I got back into a knitting mood, mostly because it was easiest to carry around on our travels between families. Thanks to my new favourite website, I am experimenting with new patterns as projects! Exciting times!

New fave website: Ravelry (think Pinterest of the Knitting Community)

Bow Headband pattern comes from the North Thirty-Fourth blog

Materials Needed:
* size 8 knitting needles (I only had size 7 but they still worked great)
* yarn of choice (worsted weight yarn is recommended, I had some light-weight yarn on hand from a previous project so I just used that)

Pattern: headband first
Cast on 80 stitches
Work in a 1x1 rib stitch for the first 4 rows
Row 5: knit
Row 6: purl stitch until 5 stitches remain and turn (literally, leave the last 5 stitches and start the next row)
Row 7: knit stitch until 5 stitches remain and turn
Row 8: purl stitch until 7 stitches remain and turn
Row 9: knit stitch until 7 stitches remain and turn
Row 10: purl stitch until 9 stitches remain and turn
Row 11: knit stitch until 9 stitches remain and turn
Row 12: purl stitch until 11 stitches remain and turn
Row 13: knit stitch until 11 stitches remain and turn
Row 14: purl stitch until 9 stitches remain and turn
Row 15: knit stitch until 9 stitches remain and turn
Row 16: purl stitch until 7 stitches remain and turn
Row 17: knit stitch until 7 stitches remain and turn
Row 18: purl stitch until 5 stitches remain and turn
Row 19: knit stitch until 5 stitches remain and turn
Row 20: purl until the end
Row 21: knit until the end
Row 22: stitch 1x1 rib stitch for next 4 rows
Bind off loosely (otherwise the headband will be too tight and not stretch to fit a bigger head... Like mine :p)
Stitch the two small ends together

The Bow:
Cast on 15 stitches
Straight stitch (knit) until the length measures 8 inches
Bind off
Stitch seam the bind off end to the cast on end. This will make the bow smaller than the one I made.
Wrap yarn around the middle of the bow and then see onto the smallest part of the headband.

Happy Knitting!
